The ‘Transformers’ franchise has been extremely popular over the years. Throughout the years, the popular toy line has also jumped onto the big screen, starting with the 1986 animated movie, ‘The Transformers: The Movie.’
The film franchise started back up in 2007 with the live action entries were a mixed bag. After the last couple Michael Bay-directed ‘Transformers’ movies were OK at best, the last couple entries (Bumblebee; Rise of the Beasts) are thoroughly entertaining and rejuvenated life to the film franchise.
The animated ‘Transformers One’ is the untold origin story of Optimus Prime and Megatron, better known as sworn enemies, but once were friends bonded like brothers who changed the fate of Cybertron forever.
This animated ‘Transformers’ origin story is a satisfying entry to the ever-growing “robots in Disguise” franchise. The new ‘Transformers’ adventure delivers some hilarious humor, amazing animation and a fresh look to the series.
‘Transformers One’ is the first entry of the series that really dives into how Optimus Prime and Megatron became the ultimate enemies. The re-telling of their origins really gives this franchise a new look and anyone who has grown up with the whole series (or at least the cartoons and animated movie), will really enjoy this.
The overall story is highly entertaining and intriguing, despite it being a little predictable at times. Even with the few predictable moments throughout the movie, it’s still a lot of fun and features some visually great action sequences.
The animation style of this ‘Transformers’ movie works really well and the look is simply incredible. The visual look of the movie also helps the action-packed sequences really stand out.
And, speaking of the action sequences, the action scenes in this movie are really incredible and a little intense at times. There are quite a few action moments that really stand out, and once the movie hits the third act, you will be on the very edge of your seat with how intense the action can get.
The voice talent that is featured in the movie helps keep ‘Transformers One’ entertaining. Keegan-Michael Key, who voices B-127 (a.k.a Bumblebee) really steals the show and will really make you laugh quite a few times.
Overall, ‘Transformers One’ is a great entry to the series. The animation is fantastic and the Optimus Prime/Megatron story does deliver a good amount of emotion and I hope this animated franchise continues, alongside the current live-action series.

An animated ‘Transformers’ origin story has been in development since 2015. After going through some hurdles, ‘Transformers One’ was officially in the works in August 2017. This is the first theatrical animated movie in the entire series since the 1986 movie.
Megatron’s original name D-16 is a reference to the Japanese serial number of the original Generation 1 Megatron toy released by the company Takara in 1984. The letter D is short for Destron, the Japanese name of the Decepticons used in older media.
‘Transformers One’ is rated PG for sci-fi violence and animated action throughout, and language and has a running time of 104 minutes.
