Plot: Growing up impoverished in small town Texas, young Rickey Hill shows an extraordinary ability of hitting a baseball, despite being burdened by leg braces from a degenerative spinal disease. His stern, pastor father discourages Rickey from playing baseball to protect him from injury, and to have him follow in his footsteps and become a preacher. The Hill is a remarkable film that is an absolute can't miss and will truly leave you moved during quite a few moments.

Throughout the film, there are some really powerful moments that will really leave you feeling a little emotional. Just watching Rickey Hill give it his absolute all to fulfill his dream is truly inspiring. One thing is for sure - never give up hope on your dreams, no matter what the odds are.
The acting in the film is remarkably well done. The whole cast is amazing and country star Randy Houser does a fine job as one of Rickey's biggest supporters. Also, a quick side note for those who have seen the film: the actress who plays Gram (another great character) is Bonnie Bedelia, a.k.a. Mrs. McClane from Die Hard and Die Hard 2!
So make sure to catch The Hill while it's showing at the Dietrich Theater over the next five days. There is some humor scattered throughout and some emotional, engrossing moments that may make you shed a tear.
