The MonsterVerse has been going strong for a decade now. Starting with 2014’s ‘Godzilla,’ these colossal monster flicks give us great monster action (despite some mixed reactions about the films themselves).

And, with it being the 10th anniversary of this cinematic universe, let me know on Facebook what your favorite entry is — ‘Godzilla,’ ‘Kong: Skull Island,’ ‘Godzilla: King of the Monsters’ or ‘Godzilla vs. Kong’ (or even the Apple Original series ‘Monarch: Legacy of Monsters.’)

Now, let’s get into the latest theatrical entry — ‘Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire.’

This latest entry in the franchise follows up the explosive showdown of ‘Godzilla vs. Kong’ with an all-new adventure, pitting the almighty Kong and the fearsome Godzilla against a colossal undiscovered threat within our world, challenging their very existence — and our own.

The epic new movie will delve further into the histories of these Titans, their origins, and the mysteries of Skull Island and beyond, while uncovering the mythic battle that helped forge these extraordinary beings and tied them to humankind forever.

‘The New Empire’ is the latest MonsterVerse monster showdown that delivers a lot of great Kaiju action and electrifying moments that fans of these movies will surely enjoy!

‘Godzilla x Kong’ is an exceptionally entertaining flick that will leave you glued to the screen from the moment it starts. All of the Kaiju monster action sequences are visually amazing and all of the action-packed scenes really stand out.

One thing I thoroughly enjoyed about this movie is that the action moments get bigger and better as the movie goes on. And, yes, Godzilla and Kong do have a bit of a re-

match in Cairo, Egypt which is another fun scene.

Another aspect of the movie that I really enjoyed is the Kaiju monster’s story. Some of the movie focuses on some of them finding their way in the world and Kong still trying to find more Kaiju like him in his new home at Hollow Earth. And, just like the previous movie, the Hollow Earth sequences are visually beautiful.

Not spoiling anything here, but the climactic final battle between the monsters is incredible. The visual effects between the monsters is simply astounding and the sub-plot with the Jia character (the girl who can communicate with Kong) adds something fresh to this cinematic universe. And we also get to see Godzilla take a little nap in the Colosseum (which the crowd thought was humorous).

Overall, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire is another monster-sized fun time for the series. The Kaiju monster scenes are great and the effects are simply awesome. Even though there are a few parts that can get a little silly, ‘The New Empire’ is still a really fun time on the big screen!

The cast: Rebecca Hall as Ilene Andrews; Brian Tyree Henry as Bernie Hayes; Dan Stevens as Trapper; Kaylee Hottle as Jia; Alex Ferns as Mikael; Rachel House as Hampton; Chantelle Jamieson as Jayne; Ron Smyck as Harris and Fala Chen as the Iwi Queen.

‘Godzilla x Kong’ is written by Terry Rossio (Godzilla vs. Kong), Simon Barrett (Blair Witch) and Jeremy Slater (Moon Knight; Netflix’s The Umbrella Academy) and directed by Adam Wingard (Godzilla vs. Kong; Netflix’s Death Note; Blair Witch).

The new installment of the MonsterVerse began early development and pre-production not long after 2021s ‘Godzillla vs. Kong’ became a success in theaters and streaming during the pandemic. Godzilla’s new design here has purple/pink-color plates akin to his design for ‘Godzilla 2000: Millennium’ (1999) and ‘Godzilla vs. Megaguirus’ (2000).

Director Adam Wingard has expressed interest in making another movie featuring both Godzilla and Kong and has revealed there are ideas floating around for more movies.

‘Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire’ is rated PG-13 for creature violence and action and has a running time of 115 minutes.
