With Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga now showing in theaters (which I have just recently seen and it's awesome), I wanted to give Max Mad: Fury Road another look since I haven't seen it since I initially reviewed it in 2015.

If you enjoy a film that delivers non-stop action, then Fury Road is definitely for you! As soon as the film starts up, the action starts up as well and literally doesn't slow down until the very end.

There are so many action sequences that are so incredible impressive and visually amazing. One of my favorite sequences is when they are driving through the huge sandstorm. That whole few moments are really intense and one of the most visually stunning scenes in recent action movies. And another thing I really enjoyed about this movie is the guy with the guitar that shoots out fire. I don't know but it's just awesome lol.

Mad Max: Fury Road is also a dark and gritty flick that fans of the original trilogy will really like. Since I enjoyed Fury Road and really interested in Furiosa, I plan on checking out the original Mad Max movies in June.

Here are some interesting tidbits for Mad Max: Fury Road!

  • Over 80% of the effects seen in the film are practical effects, including stunts, make up and sets. CGI was used sparingly, mainly to enchance the Namibian landscape, remove stunt rigging, and for Furiosa's left arm, which is a prosthetic limb.

  • The flame shooting guitarist is Australian artist/musician Sean Hape, better known as Iota. In an interview on Vice, he said the guitar weighed 132 pounds and shot real gas-powered flames, which he controlled using the whammy bar.

  • Counting the opening voice overs, and discounting any grunts, Max Rockatansky has exactly 52 lines.

  • The film was shot in sequence.

  • According to director George Miller, the film's storyboard was made even before the screenplay. The reason behind this was because Miller envisioned the film as a continuous chase, with little dialogue and more focus on visuals. The storyboard was made with the collaboration of five artists and had about 3500 panels.

  • The jacket worn by Tom Hardy is a replica of the one worn by Mel Gibson in the last two movies of the original trilogy. The original Gibson jacket was found in storage at Kennedy-Miller and copied heavily.

  • An R-rated version and a PG-13 version had been made. After test screenings, WB decided to release the R-rated version.

  • First movie of the Mad Max franchise to be nominated for an Academy Award. It won six.

  • Production was originally set to film around 2011 in the traditional setting of Broken Hill, Australia, but due to heavy rainfall transforming the desert landscape into a lush meadow of flowers, the production was moved to Namibia.

  • Fury Road had a lengthy gestation period. In 1987, George Miller, had the idea of making a Mad Max installment that was "almost a continuous chase."

  • The film entered pre-production at 20th Century Fox in the early 2000s and was set to star Mel Gibson (who portrayed Max in the trilogy), with Sigourney Weaver contemplated for the female co-lead which would later become Imperator Furiosa, suggested by Gibson himself after they had worked together in Peter Weir's The Year of Living Dangerously. Production was indefinitely postponed after 9/11.

  • The film had its world premiere at the TCL Chinese Theatre in LA on May 7, 2015. It also screened out of competition at the 68th Cannes Film Festival on May 14, 2015.

  • Fury Road grossed $154.3 million domestic, and $226.1 million in other countries, for a worldwide total of $380.4 million against a production budget of $154.6 - 185.1 million. Several critics have called Mad Max: Fury Road one of the greatest action films ever made.
