‘The Haunted Mansion’ is an attraction at the Walt DIsney theme parks that is still popular today. In 2003, Disney decided to take its popular theme park to the big screen, which became a decent box office hit despite the mixed reviews.
Now, Walt Disney Pictures gave ‘The Haunted Mansion’ another go on the big screen in a brand new take.
In this new take of ‘Haunted Mansion,’ a woman and her son enlist a motley crew of so-called spiritual experts to help rid their home of supernatural squatters.
‘Haunted Mansion’ is a really fun blend of comedy and scares that will keep the whole family entertained from beginning to end.
There are quite a few moments that will give you a good chuckle. Owen WIlson can still make everyone laugh with his character. In fact, most of the lead characters can easily get you a slight chuckle.
A lot of the scenes that are featured in the mansion are visually great and can get a little scary at times. There are a few segments that can be a tad on the scary side for some of the little ones. But, they will still enjoy it.
Some of the ghost designs in the movie are really cool looking and even the CGI that is used looks really good. A lot of the ghost moments don't come into play until the second half of the movie. And, when they arrive, those scenes are really fun to watch.
There is also a bit of emotion in this movie that works well. The LaKeith Stanfield character goes through losing his wife and wants to be left alone. But, throughout the course of the movie, his character slowly learns to connect with others again and live life again through his grief.
Overall, ‘Haunted Mansion’ is great fun for the whole family. It delivers some extremely entertaining moments, a few little scares and a great time at the theater. There are also some Easter eggs and references from the theme park attraction that you may be able to possibly spot.

Some of the cast include: LaKeith Stanfield as Ben Matthias; Rosario Dawson as Gabbie; Owen Wilson as Father Kent; Tiffany Haddish as Harriet; Jamie Lee Curtis as Madame Leota; Chase Dillon as Travis; J.R. Adduci as William Gracey; Jared Leto as Crump/Hatbox and Danny DeVito as Bruce Davis.
‘Haunted Mansion’ is written by Kate Dippold (Snatched; The Heat; Ghostbusters - 2016) and directed by Justin Simien (Hulu’s Bad Hair; Dear White People).
‘Haunted Mansion’ is rated PG-13 for some thematic elements and scary action and has a running time of 123 minutes.
