'Godzilla' Sequel Delivers Monster-Sized Action and Thrills

In 2014, a cinematic franchise called the MonsterVerse got off to a roaring start with the remake of "Godzilla." The feature earned great reviews and had a decent box office run. A few years later, the infamous Kong made a return to the big screen with "Kong: Skull Island." Now, Godzilla returns for the ultimate monster battle with "Godzilla: King of the Monsters."

In the Warner Brothers/Legendary Pictures presentation of "Godzilla: King of the Monsters," members of the crypto-zoological agency Monarch face off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah.

When those ancient super-species-thought-to-be-mere-myths rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity's very existence hanging in the balance.

"King of the Monsters" is definitely a blast to watch. Throughout the feature, there are several monster fights that are quite tense and amazing to watch. The visual effects in the movie are really incredible and seeing some of the destruction sequences are just awe-inspiring. Sure, there is a little bit of the plot that doesn't quite make sense. But, all of the exciting action and tense moments will really make up for it.

Also, make sure to stick around during the credits which gives subtle hints of where the MonsterVerse is heading next. And, also a bonus scene which could lead to a potential feature.

The cast: Kyle Chandler as Mark Russell, Vera Farmiga as Dr. Emma Russell, Millie Bobby Brown as Madison Russell, Ken Watanabe as Dr. Ishiro Serizawa, Ziyi Zhang as Dr. Ilene Chan/Dr. Ling, Bradley Whitford as Dr. Rick Stanton, Sally Hawkins as Dr. Vivienne Graham, Charles Dance as Alan Jonah, Thomas Middleditch (Replicas) as Sam Coleman, O'Shea Jackson Jr. as Chief Warrant Officer Barnes, David Strathairn as Admiral William Stenz and Joe Morton as Dr. Houston Brooks (a character from "Kong: Skull Island")."King of the Monsters" is co-written and directed by Michael Dougherty, who has also directed "Krampus" and the popular cult classic horror flick "Trick 'r' Treat."

After the successful opening of 2014s "Godzilla," Legendary Pictures green-lit the sequel with intentions to produce a trilogy. Shortly after the sequel announcement, a "Godzilla vs. Kong" was also announced. Principal photography began in Atlanta, GA on June 19, 2017 and ended that September.

Critics overall gave the feature slightly mixed reviews. But, the "Godzilla" sequel is definitely one of those films that shouldn't let the mixed reviews stop you from seeing it.

"Godzilla: King of the Monsters" is rated PG-13 for sequences of monster action violence and destruction, and for some language and has a running time of 131 minutes.
