‘The Fall Guy’ is a TV series produced by ABC that ran from Nov. 4, 1981, to May 2, 1986. The show’s story focused on Hollywood stunt performers who moonlight as bounty hunters. Let me know on Facebook if you remember seeing this series.
Now, an action-comedy loosely based on the series is on the big screen and is a real fun time.
In ‘The Fall Guy,’ Colt Seavers is a stuntman, and like everyone in the stunt community, he gets blown up, shot, crashed, thrown through windows and dropped from the highest of heights, all for our entertainment.
And now, fresh off an almost career-ending accident, this working class hero has to track down a missing movie star, solve a conspiracy and try to win back the love of his life while still doing his day job.
What could possibly go right?
‘The Fall Guy’ is the first big movie of the summer movie season and does a great job keeping you entertained. This action-comedy delivers a lot of fun, great action and is an awesome love letter to the stunt community.
This action-packed movie does an astounding job blending the comedic, action and romantic elements together. The action that is seen scattered throughout is really exciting and the stunts are amazing (more on the stunts in a bit).
All of the action sequences in this movie are big and exhilarating. The action is amazingly shot and some of the action can get quite intense (and a little humorous during some moments). There is a huge action sequence that shows the Cole Seaver character going through Sydney, Australia that is one of the major highlights of the

movie. Once the conspiracy about the missing actor goes deeper, the action becomes non-stop.
In between all of the action, there are also quite a few humorous moments that will really have you laughing. Both Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt are hilarious together and their chemistry is amazing. Lately, Gosling has been proving in both ‘Barbie’ and his recent SNL hosting stint that the actor can be really funny.
Gosling has several stand-out moments throughout the movie and he gives a lot of
energy to his role and you can tell that he’s having a good time. There are several scenes that he appears in that will make you laugh. There are also quite a few meta jokes and gags that are thrown into the movie that will also give you a little chuckle.
Now, let’s get to the stunts. The stunts that are shown throughout are incredible and don’t feature any CGI (at least that I noticed). There are quite a few memorable stunts that are really impressive, such as numerous car rolls, a big jump out of a helicopter and a whole lot more.
So, if you like lots of action, some good laughs and amazing stunt work (along with great music), ‘The Fall Guy’ has something for everyone.
The cast: Gosling as Colt Seavers; Emily Blunt as Jody Moreno; Aaron Taylor; Johnson as Tom Ryder; Hannah Waddingham as Gail Meyer; Teresa Palmer as Iggy Starr; Stephanie Hsu as Alma Milan; Ben Knight as Dressler; Matuse as Doone; Adam Dunn as Nigel; Zara Michales as Venti Kushner and Winston Duke as Dan Tucker.
‘The Fall Guy’ is written by Drew Pierce (Hobbs & Shaw; Hotel Artemis) and is directed by David Leitch (Bullet Train; Atomic Blonde; Deadpool 2; producer of the John Wick series).
A movie based on the 1980s series, ‘The Fall Guy,’ has been in development since July 2010. After development had halted, it picked back up around 2021 or 2022.
‘The Fall Guy’ is rated PG-13 for action and violence, drug content and some strong language and has a running time of 126 minutes.
