In 2021, a new adaptation of ‘Dune’ was finally released onto the big screen. With movie theaters at the time still slowly opening, the film earned $108 million domestically and $433 million worldwide. Not long after ‘Dune: Part One’ was released, a second film was eventually given the green-light.

Now, eagerly awaiting fans can come check out this highly entertaining follow up to the 2021 feature.

‘Dune: Part Two’ explores the mythic journey of Paul Atreides as he unites with Chani and the Fremen while on a warpath of revenge against the conspirators who destroyed his family.

Facing a choice between the love of his life and the fate of the known universe, he endeavors to prevent a terrible future only he can oversee.

I’ll admit that when I watched the first film during my initial viewing I thought it was okay. Not long ago I gave the 2021 movie another go when it was re-released to get a refreshed look before I checked out this sequel. And after giving the first film another look, I grew to enjoy it more.

‘Dune: Part Two’ will really have you hooked right from the start. This highly awaited sequel delivers a good amount of tension, great performances and astounding action sequences.

Just like the first film, the visual effects in this follow up is simply incredible. All of the visual effect shots that are featured in the film (especially during the action scenes) will blow you away. The CGI moments that are seen scattered throughout are amazing t

o watch.

This ‘Dune’ follow-up also delivers quite a few powerful moments — especially when we see Paul Atreides (played by the talented Timothee Chalamet) seeing his visions of the potential future and what could potentially happen.

‘Part Two’ features some great performances from everyone in the film, Chalamet, Zendaya and Rebecca Ferguson (who portrays Paul’s mother) have done a great job, but it’s Austin Butler and Javier Bardem who can really steal the show in this follow up. Bardem, who plays Stilgar, can be quite serious at times and has a few humorous moments.

Austin Butler really gives it his all as the sequel’s main antagonist Feyd-Rautha. He can be quite intense in his role and his first few moments (which are amazingly shot) is one of the best ways to introduce audiences to a villain. And, it was also good to see Christopher Walken on the big screen again.

Another aspect that really helped make the film and action sequences more powerful is the amazing score composed by Hans Zimmer. Every time he works on a film’s score, it never disappoints.

Overall, ‘Dune: Part Two’ is a spectacular sci-fi adventure that might go down as being one of the best films ever released in the sci-fi genre. Sure, the film’s running time is 165 minutes — 15 minutes shy from the 3 hour mark — but the pace of the film goes by so fast you won’t even notice! So, make sure to catch this immersive sci-fi sequel on the big screen.

Some of the cast: Timothee Chalamet as Paul Antreides; Zendaya as Chani; Rebecca Gerguson as Jessica; Javier Bardem as Stilgar; Josh Brolin as Gurney Halleck; Florence Pugh as Princess Irulan; Stellan Skarsgard as Baron Harkannen; Charlotte Rampling as Reverend Mother Mohiem; Dave Bautista as Beast Rabbon; Austin Butler as Feyd-Rauthe and Christopher Walken as the Emperor, among many others.

‘Dune: Part Two’ is written by Denis Villeneuve and Jon Spaihts (Dune: Part One; The Mummy; Doctor Strange) and also directed by Villeneuve (Dune: Part One; Blade Runner 2049; Arrival; Prisoners).

The sequel was officially green-lit a few days after the simultaneous release of the 2021 film. The studio (Warner Bros.) assured Villeneuve that a sequel will still happen as long as it performed well on the HBO Max (now Max) streaming platform.

‘Dune: Part Two’ is rated PG-13 for strong violence, some suggestive material and brief strong language and has a running time of 165 minutes.
