When I first saw the trailer for the Nicolas Cage film Dream Scenario, I honestly was expecting a wacky, quirky comedy. I mean, the film stars Cage so he is usually wacky and quirky in most of his films anyway. But, the film actually goes deeper than I expected.

Dream Scenario can actually be really thought-provoking at times. Nic Cage's character does indeed become popular pretty much overnight when he starts appearing in almost everyone's dreams. When this happens the film focus on what fame can do to someone's life in the most unexpected ways.

Once those dreams become out of control and take a really dark turn, the film then kind of focuses on the cancel culture aspect of fame and how these dreams can psychologically change a person. The dream sequences can get really weird at times and can be entertaining at times as well.

There are some moments in Dream Scenario that can give you a few laughs and Cage can still do a good job giving a quirky (and sometimes unhinged) performance. The concept of the film is rather unique and interesting, yet (slight spoiler) it doesn't really have an explanation of why so many people were having dreams - and later nightmares - about Paul Matthews.

Dream Scenario will also be available on the Max streaming service sometime in March!
