Now it's time to move on to Damien: Omen II. From here on out, these installments will be first time viewings for me. For the 1978 sequel (that actually takes place years later), it's not as great as the original classic, but the story is actually a decent continuation.

One aspect that really intrigued me about this sequel is when Damien finally becomes aware of who he really is. We also get to see several people who do find out but end up getting killed in bizarre ways.

Omen II is an entertaining follow up to the horror classic and the thrills are really decent. Once we see Damien finding everything out, the suspense really builds to an ending that I didn't expect! There are plenty of twists and turns scattered throughout that are really good!

HERE ARE A FEW TIDBITS FOR DAMIEN: OMEN II!!

  • William Holden was the original choice to star in the first film, but turned it down as he didn't want to star in a picture about the devil. The Omen went on to become a huge hit and Holden made sure he didn't turn down the part in this sequel.

  • The popularity of the name Damien plummeted as a result of this movie and its predecessor.

  • Richard Donner was supposed to return as director, but he was busy with Superman.

  • British director Mike Hodges was hired to helm the horror sequel. Four weeks into principal photography however, Hodges left the movie: "artistic differences" was the reason given to the media, but the producers were unhappy with his working methods which they claimed were too slow.

  • Hodges was replaced by Don Taylor, who had a reputation for finishing movies on time and under budget. Taylor re-shot several of Hodge's scenes, while Hodges has received a screen-writing credit.

  • The movie opened at No. 1 at the US box office with a gross of $3.8 million in its opening weekend from 521 theaters. It went on to gross $26.5 million domestic.
