For quite some time, I wanted to check out the fourth Beverly Hills Cop movie, but couldn't find the time for awhile. Not Long ago, I finally had the chance to see it. And the verdict is - they definitely made another good Beverly Hills Cop movie!

Now, don't get me wrong - it's not as funny as the first movie, which would honestly be a tough feat. Axel F does deliver some very funny moments and it gives the R-rated Eddie Murphy that we all remember!

It is also great to see Murphy back with the original series co-stars Judge Reinhold and John Ashton. The moments they have together, especially at the end, really reminds you of how good their chemistry was in the original movies.

The action is a little over the top, but is still awesome! And sure Eddie Murphy is getting older. But, Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F shows that Murphy still has that infamous wit and he's still got it. So after watching this, let's bring on a fifth one - as long as it's decent!

  • On Jeffrey's wall is a photo of Gilbert R. Hill who played Inspector Todd. Hill passed away in 2016.

  • When Bobby Abbott goes over Axel's three other cases in Beverly Hills, he mentions that the third "wasn't his finest hour," which is referencing Beverly Hills Cop III, that Murphy despised and is the lowest-rated of the series.

  • Judge Reinhold's first role after a 6.5 year hiatus.

  • Reunites many actors from previous installments: Murphy and Reinhold (appeared in 1-3), Ashton and Reiser (1 and 2); and Pinchot (1 and 3).

  • Before it was green-lit, there was a TV pilot for Beverly Hills Cop where Axel's son is now a detective pursuing a case in Beverly Hills.

  • The movie's subtitle, Axel F, is based on the 1984 song of the same name by Harold Feltermeyer, which had been used as the theme song for the movies.

  • The first in the series not to be produced or distributed by Paramount.

  • A fourth entry in the series was initially announced for release in the mid 90s before production fizzled out. The movie was re-announced in 2006, when producer Jerry Bruckheimer announced his intention to resurrect the series.

  • In August 2019, the movie was described as still in the development phase. On November 14, 2019, Deadline Hollywood announced that Paramount made a one time license deal, with an option for a sequel, with Netflix to develop the movie.

  • The movie was released on Netflix on July 3, 2024. After its premiere, the movie had 41 million views in 5 days. It also had 80.7 million hours viewed. During its second week, Axel F remained the most watched movie on Netflix, scoring 22.2 million views and 43.7 million hours.
