‘The Beekeeper’ is the latest action flick starring Jason Statham showing us what the actor does best — kick butt, take names and blow stuff up. And, this one is no exception. In fact, this fast-paced action flick can really get your mind off the cold and dreary January if you love action movies.
In Statham’s latest action venture, one man’s brutal campaign for vengeance takes on national stakes after it’s revealed that he’s a former operative of a powerful and clandestine organization known as Beekeepers.
‘The Beekeeper’ delivers a lot of great tense action that generally leads to very explosive results. All of the action-packed moments are extremely thrilling and will really leave you at the edge of your seat.
Slight spoiler alert: Jason Statham’s ‘Beekeeper’ role can be actually a little emotional since all of the events of this action-packed movie starts with the results of an online scam involving an older, endearing woman who took care of him. And after the scammers empty all of her accounts, she ends up taking her own life. The woman’s daughter also comes into play as the Fed who wants to find out what happened to her mother.
Sure, ‘The Beekeeper’ does seem like the average vigilante/revenge movie that has been done numerous times. Yet, this movie delivers the non-stop action perfectly and the emotion that it delivers from time to time helps drive the movie. Josh Hutcherson (last seen in ‘Five Nights at Freddy’s) and Jeremy Irons also give some scene-stealing performances and looks like they did have a blast making the movie.

‘The Beekeeper’ also has a few twists and turns in the story that are completely unexpected and awesome. This action flick also mixes the action and comedy together really well. Now, the comedic segments aren’t slapstick or silly gags. It’s mainly with how a couple of the bad guys are taken care of and a couple quips that Statham delivers that could make you chuckle.
So, if you’re looking for an old-school action movie, make sure to catch ‘The Beekeeper’ at the Dietrich!
