The Angel Studios feature film, ‘After Death,’ explores one of the most mysterious and intriguing experiences that are still being explored today — near-death experiences.

A near-death experience (NDE) is a profound personal experience associated with death or impending death which researchers describe as having similar characteristics. When positive, which the majority are, such experiences may encompass a variety of sensations including detachment from the body, feeling of levitation, total serenity, security, warmth, joy and seeing relatives who have passed on.

‘After Death’ is a gripping film that explores the afterlife based on real near-death experiences, conveyed by scientists, authors and survivors.

From the New York Times best-selling authors who brought us titles such as ‘90 Minutes in Heaven,’ ‘Imagine Heaven,’ and ‘To Heaven and Back,’ emerges a cinematic peek into the unknown that examines the spiritual and scientific dimensions of mortality, inviting viewers to contemplate the possibility of life after death.

‘After Death’ is a truly thought-provoking documentary film that is really well done and very intriguing.

The documentary features some truly moving re-enactments of first-hand accounts and just hearing what some people have seen during their near-death experiences is simply amazing. Actually, during a few of those accounts, it can make you feel really moved.

The film also delivers some intriguing interviews from various religious individuals and doctors. I really enjoyed seeing the interviews from both sides of the whole near-death experience conversation — the medical side and the scientific side.

‘After Death’ is a really empowering little feature that could appeal to anyone who does or doesn’t believe in these experiences. All of the interviews and re-enactments are very interesting and this is one documentary that really shouldn’t be missed.

‘After Death’ is directed by Stephen Gray (the short film ‘Discovering Heaven’) and Chris Radtke.

‘After Death’ is rated PG-13 for thematic material including violent descriptions, some bloody images and drug references and has a running time of 108 minutes.

Keep on checking my Wyoming County Press Examiner reviews page on Facebook to see what else I will be checking out for the Examiner. And coming up on the review front — ‘The Marvels,’ ‘Trolls Band Together’ and ‘The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes.’
